     Johan Christopher Henrich Recker was born on 18 April 1799, in Hitzhausen, Ostercappeln, Niedersachsen, Germany. He was the son of Johan Heinrich Recker and Anna Maria Linkemeyer. In 1824 in St. Lambertus in Ostercappeln, Niedersachsen, Germany, Johan Christopher Henrich Recker married Maria Angela Mehring, daughter of Gerhard Henry Mehring and Anna Maria Juliana Hubntemann. On 17 September 1833Johan Christopher Henrich Recker and Maria Angela Mehring were on the passenger list of the Ship Charles Ferdinand to Baltimore. His party consisted of three adults, two sons, one daughter. Also on this ship was her brother, Gerhard and his family.1 Johan is the head of a family on the 1840 Census in Ottawa Township, Ohio. John Rager, age 40 - 50 with wife age 40 - 50 and children, one boy age 5 -10 and three girls ages 10-15, 5-10, and under 5.2 He became Maria Elizabeth Moening's godparent at her baptism in St. John the Baptist, Glandorf, Putnam, Ohio, USA, on 8 April 1840.3 Johan Christopher Henrich Recker died in 1845 in Glandorf, Ohio, USA. He was buried in 1845 in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Glandorf, Ohio, USA. John Recker, age 47.4

On Tuesday, 23 April 1833 in Sankt Dionysius in Rheine, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, Theodor Meyer married Anna Mersman, age 31, daughter of Johan Gerhard Mersman and Catherina Rahmeier. Per the parish record, he was 30 and she was 32. Witnesses Gerhard Mersman and Henrich Brameyer.1 Theodor Meyer and Anna Mersman had 4 children. On 26 May 1834 Theodor Meyer immigrated from Westerkappeln, Steinfurt, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, to Putnam County, Ohio.2,3 He was on the passenger list of the Brig Burgermeister Smidt to Baltimore, Maryland on 26 May 1834. Deidrich (Theodore) Meyer 36 with his wife, 35 and one child arrived in Baltimore, Maryland from Bremen, Germany on May 26, 1834. They list their hometown as Westerkapl.4

Theodor is the head of a family on the 1840 Census in Ottawa Township, Ohio. Last name spelled "Myer". Theodore = 40-50 years of age; wife = 30-40 years of age. One male child between 5 and 10 years of age.5 Theodor declared his intention to become a citizen of the United States on 21 September 1840. "State of Ohio, Putnam County, Theodore Meyer, a native of Hanover aged about forty years who applies to be admitted a citizen of the United States, upon his Solemn oath declares that he will support the Constitution of the United States and that he doth herby renounce all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign prince, potentate or sovereignty whatever; particularly to William King the fourth of Hanover of whom he has heretofor been a subject. Theodor is the head of a family on the 20 August 1850 Census in Ottawa Township, Ohio. Name given as Theodore Myers 50, with wife Mary, 49 and their children: Bernard 16, Theodore 8, Mary 4, Henry 3 and Mary Mesmer 69 (mother-in-law). Occupation = Farmer. Value of real estate = $1200.10 He became Bernard Mersman's godparent at his baptism in St. John the Baptist in Glandorf, Ohio, USA on 13 July 1851.11 On 24 December 1851 in Ottawa Township, Ohio, USA he bought 80 acres in section 33 purchased from Gerhard Utrup for $600. Theodor died on 1 January 1853 in Ottawa Township, Ohio, USA.12 He was buried on 1 January 1853 in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Glandorf, Ohio, USA.12
