     Károly was born in Németboly, Baranya, Hungary on 28 January 1823.1,2 He was the son of Ferdinánd Szieberth and Anna Werner. Károly Sziebert was baptized on 28 January 1823 in Németboly, Baranya, Hungary.1,2 On Tuesday, 14 January 1845 in Németboly, Baranya, Hungary, at age 21, Károly Sziebert married Lizzi Schultz, age 20, daughter of Bálint Schultz and Teréz Hirt. Married by Menyhert Baumholzer. Witnesses: John Herresbacher and John Dendi.3 In 1850 He was originally trained in the making of a kind of overcoat (szur). But he was not particularly interested in it, so he started to work in the leather business. With this he made fortunes. His son Stephan began exporting leather. They both knew when to stop. The next thing they got into was land. Great-grandfather purchased the so-called "Old Range". After that, whatever was available. There was Lukas-field, Vasut (railroad) range with the grainery, land in Marazan, one in Ziegelofen (Karoly's purchase). Additionally there were the vineyards in Marienberg (part of the Trischler dowry), Tukar (a name that sounded like Tokaj), Dreispitz and Hohlkeller with the enormous concrete barrels in the wine caves and who knows what and where else.4 In 1881he resided in Pécs, Baranya, Hungary,at 13 Janos Utca. This house was built in 1712. On November 18, 1872, Nandor Szieberth bought the house for 5,000 forints. On January 19, 1881 at an auction Karoly Sziebert and Elisabeth Schultz Sziebert bought this house for 15,250 forints. In 1885 the house still belonged to them.5 Károly died on 8 May 1905 in Németboly, Baranya, Hungary at age 82.6,7
He was trained as a tailor but his real love was buying and selling fine wines. He made his fortune as a wine dealer. He was considered a good businessman. He was known as the fun-loving grandfather. Described as tall, lean, fun-loving and generous. He was an enthusiastic theater-goer.

His baptism name was Carolus Böröcz.1 On Monday, 5 May 1851 in Veszprém, Veszprém, Hungary, at age 27, Károly Berecz married Nina Erdössy, age 21, daughter of János Erdössy and Mária Melchior. Married by his brother, Jozsef Berecz. Witnesses: Alajos Szammer and Gyorgy Blauhorn. Károly Berecz and Nina Erdössy had 13 children. Most of the children were born in Pécs, Baranya, Hungary. In 1858 he resided at #6 Kossuth Lane, Pécs, Baranya, Hungary. This house was built before 1694 and in that year was transferred from the property of Mehemed Silistar, a Turkish aga, to Frigyes Krenner, the postmaster of Pecs. This house had three stories and 8 rooms. Matyas Berecz, a tanner, purchased the property from Ferenc Xaver Grill on September 23, 1822 for 13,000 forints and the exchange of another piece of property. In the 1856 land census the street is referred to as Fo (Main) Street. Karoly Berecz inherited #6 Kossuth Lane, Pecs on March 3, 1858. This street was called Kiraly (King) Street from 1864. In 1864, Karoly Berecz purchased #8 Kossuth Lane from Sandor Reinfeld thereby extending his property. In 1882 when Karoly Berecz died, the properties passed to his children and was still in their possession in 1885.3 Between 1864 and 1889 he resided at #11 Perczel, Pécs, Baranya, Hungary..3 Károly died on 8 December 1882 in Pécs, Baranya, Hungary at age 58. Cause of death = apoplexia. Died suddenly while in his work area in the basement of his house.4 He was buried on 10 December 1882 in Pécs, Baranya, Hungary.1
